Hi, it's me, Sarah!

Hi, nice to e-meet you!

You might be here because you came across my instagram account @dondedraws, or because you know me and love me more than my art, so you're sucking it up and buying a print to stick on the back of the fridge to help me pay the rent. Or, (but I don't dare assume) you like my art more than you like me - you can scribble out my signature, i'll never know, it's your fridge and since you don't like me that much, I'll probably never be invited over for dinner. Third option: somehow the universe has aligned for me (yay me) and either instagram, tiktok, youtube, word of mouth, or a strong gut pang has brought you here. You don't know me from a bar of soap but thought 'huh, that's quite nice, I fancy hanging that on my fridge' because it fits with your Pinterest moodboard. Who am I to judge? You're the one bankrolling me, after all, and either way, my art ends up on your fridge.

Now that we have that out of the way and you've filed yourself neatly under one of three categories, a bit about ME, finally. My name is Sarah ('Sa' if you fall under category one, or 'that fucking bitch' if you fall under, quite honestly, any category, depending on what I've done this time) and I am a South African artist in my mid (late) twenties living in Amsterdam (but don't hold your breathe, I lived in three different countries just last year!). Last year I lived in Scotland for 8 months, and I am pretty sure I left my heart there - I dream about moving back and buying and decorating a cozy cottage by the North sea with a dog and a room to make art.

I started painting stick figures at a very young age, it was giving child prodigy, it all kind of went underwhelmingly from there: I decided to become a lawyer and then i decided not to become a lawyer, and now I'm back to drawing stick figures, we don't talk about that useless law degree. Isn't it funny how life works?

Anyway, i'm just a girl standing in front of a loved one/frenemy/stranger, asking them to please support my art, mostly so that i can end this vicious cycle and not become a struggling lawyer, and partly because wouldn't it be cool for me, personally, if this worked out?
